Neil E. Wolkodoff, PhD, Program Director

Neil Wolkodoff, PhD., works with athletes, novices, and regular people to improve the function, health and longevity of adults over 50. He holds certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM: Health Fitness Director and Exercise Physiologist). Wolkodoff has superior athletic enhancement tools and understanding as he trained various athletes, including NFL, NHL, MLB, PGA, and Olympic athletes, for more than 27 years.

Wolkodoff has served as an editor and a member of the certification committee for ACSM and served in the same capacities for the American Council. A former member of the certification committee for the National Strength & Conditioning Association, he was also State Director for Colorado. He was twice honored as State Director of The Year by NSCA. His EnergyZone® high-intensity interval training program was awarded the prestigious Nova 7 Award at the IHRSA international conference as the best innovation in exercise testing and training. He was a past member of the Colorado Governor’s Council on Fitness, committee, and board member for the Colorado American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association.

As the founder of the LivingVital program, he has developed effective sets of thinking, exercise, lifestyle modifications and coordination performance tools for gaining vitality and function. Wolkodoff is a recognized authority in energy system testing (VO2 Max/AT/Lactate Threshold) to implement individual exercise levels. He performed these services with various professional athletes, including the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. His expertise runs from strength & conditioning applications to energy system training and the health & performance results from exercise, lifestyle, and nutritional intake.

He has performed research for a number of the prominent equipment manufacturers including Nautilus, StarTrac, Reebok and Cybex. He routinely performs consulting and research for nutritional manufacturers and lifestyle interventions.

He has contributed articles and interviews to Men’s Fitness, Golf Tips, Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, Shape, American Health, the New York Times, Colorado Avid Golfer, National Geographic, the Washington Post, and golf.com. He was a past book review editor & columnist for Fitness Management Magazine. He is the author of five books, including Physical SkiingCore Powered GolfPhysical Golf, ExerTrends Treadmill Review, and Body Logic, published by KickPoint Press.
